CSJ women’s soccer heads to Hampshire

The Fighting Saints are back on the road Thursday, traveling to Amherst, Mass. for a 4:30 p.m. match against Hampshire College.

On Saturday, Sept. 16, Hampshire played their lone game of the season to-date. They traveled to Central Maine Community College, where they suffered a close 2-1 defeat. Jenna Fontanetta scored for Hampshire off one of her five shots. Natalie Strohm picked up the assist on the play. Strohm attempted goals of her own, taking eight shots with six being on frame, but came up short.

Gwyn Burns took three shots for Hampshire, all of which were on net, and Isabel Anderson took four shots with three being on-goal. Leah Sweeney played 90 minutes in net, making 14 saves in the contest.

The match against Hampshire will be CSJ's first in a week, after falling to New Hampshire Technical Institute on Thursday, Sept. 14. Facing strong competition in NHTI and Southern Maine Community College, the Saints (0-2) have not been able to register a shot.

Goalkeeper Samantha Beaudreault has made 31 saves for the Saints.
