Fighting Saints optimistic for 2017 season

After losing the majority of last year's squad to graduation, the College of St. Joseph women's soccer team looks to rebuild for the 2017 season.

Senior Jane Cretella (Naugatuck, Conn.) and junior Elizabeth Turco (Windsor, Vt.) will provide pivotal leadership to this year's team.  Although they are the only returning players from the 2016 season, the women have much to look forward to as Head Coach Teri Perry has gathered a promising recruiting class.

Coach Perry returns for her second year at the helm of CSJ women's soccer program after being awarded YSCC Women's Coach of the Year in 2016, her first season. The CSJ alumna coaches with the determination to see her players improve throughout the season, while keeping a lighthearted attitude that players respond well to.

Among the 2017 recruits is goaltender Samantha Beaudreault, a New Jersey native.  Beaudreault boasts an impressive playing career at Rumson-Fair Haven High School in Rumson, N.J. In her last two seasons alone, she accumulated 25 shutouts and 146 saves.

Cretella, Turco, Beaudreault and the rest of the Fighting Saints begin play at home on Sunday, Sept. 3 for a 1 p.m. contest against Johnson State.
