CSJ plays for fifth consecutive win Thursday night

College of St. Joseph's women's basketball team hosts UMaine-Machias on Thursday, Jan. 17 at 5pm.

Tonight's game marks the second match-up between the two squads. The Clippers took a 69-55 win over CSJ 69-55 in Maine on Nov. 4. The contest was the Saints' season opener. Machias' Caitlyn Lyons scored a game-high 24 points and teammate Raegene Womack recorded 22 points and 12 rebounds. CSJ was led by Rachel Bruneel, with 12 points, 7 rebounds. NaKeeya Goodman-Boddie tallied 11 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds and 3 steals.

Machias is currently 9-5 on the season. Three players average over 15 points per game (PPG): Tate Dolley (15.9 PPG), Womack (15.8 PPG), and Lyons (15.4 PPG). Dolley had 16 points against CSJ off 5-for-10 shooting from the field and 6-for-8 shooting from the foul line. She also had 5 rebounds and 2 blocks.

Daija Black has been consistent for CSJ, averaging field goal percentage of 43 and 12.2 PPG. Sabrena Eye is averaging 11.2 PPG and a team-leading 6.6 rebounds per game (RPG). Nakeeya Goodman-Boddie also leads the team in rebounding with 6.6 RPG. Womack leads Machias in rebounding with 11.8 RPG. Dolley averages 7.8 RPG.

CSJ is 7-10 on the season. After the Machias match-up, the Saints will play at New Hampshire Technical Institute on Thursday, Jan. 24 at 5:30pm.
