College of St. Joseph's women's basketball team (4-10) plays Word of Life Bible Institute in Pottersville, N.Y. on Tuesday, Jan. 8 at 7pm.
The Fighting Saints are coming off a 67-65 win over SUNY Delhi on Jan. 5. Jayla Latham hit a layup to put CSJ ahead with just two seconds remaining in the game. High pressure defense by CSJ secured the win. Rachel Bruneel scored 17 points in the victory.
CSJ last matched up against Word of Life on Dec. 4 and won 99-22 in CSJ's Athletic Center. Every player on the Saints' roster scored at least one field goal. CSJ did not allow a point in the final quarter of play.
Sabrena Eye led CSJ with 22 points, 12 rebounds, two blocks and two steals. Crisalida Chaplin and LaShaunte White each netted 16 points. Chaplin also had nine rebounds, four steals and two assists. Daija Black recorded 14 points, five steals, five rebounds and three assists. Bruneel rounded out the double-digit scorers with 12 points.
Alexis Juilleret scored 10 points and pulled down seven rebounds for Word of Life. Substitute Julia Tuason had five points, seven rebounds and three assists. Mikayla Kupe had four points and two rebounds.
CSJ will look to perform well at Word of Life and carry momentum into Monday night's contest at Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Science on Jan. 14 at 5pm.
