Women’s XC boast strong performance at Mountaineer Invite

The College of St. Joseph's Women's Cross Country team traveled to Southern Vermont College on Saturday for the Mountaineer Invitational 5k.

Emily St. Germain was the top performer for the Saints. The freshman out of Glens Fall, N.Y. kicked off her college career in grand fashion, placing 10th overall with a mile pace of 8:09. There were nearly sixty runners participating. St. Germain will look to continue improving as the season goes on, and lessen her already impressive 25:19 time.

Madison Akins, Ajaylla Rotan, Aliesha Thomas and Crisilida Chaplain finished consecutively 35th through 38th, setting personal bests with their times ranging from 30:11 to 30:47. Brittany Vicenti, Alexius Brooks, Alayna Landolfo, and LaShaunte White set personal records during the Mountaineer Invitational, as well.

Coach Jonathan Lamiotte said it was "an amazing weekend" and that he is "very proud" of each of his runners' performances on Saturday.

The Saints' next chance to shine is this weekend at the Castleton Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 9 at 11 a.m.
