College of St. Joseph's volleyball team is coming off 3-0 wins against SUNY Delhi and two separate 3-0 wins at Lyndon State. They hope to add four more wins to their growing collection after this weekend, traveling on Saturday, Oct. 7 and playing host on Sunday, Oct. 8.
On Saturday, Oct. 7 CSJ travels to NHTI for a 12:00 p.m. match. Last Saturday, CSJ defeated Yankee Small College Conference foe NHTI 3-1 (25-23, 25-17, 16-25, 25-16). At 3:00 p.m. on Oct. 7, they face Unity College at Paul Smith's. The Fighting Saints dropped a competitive game against the Rams 3-2 last weekend (19-25, 25-17, 21-25, 25-16, 11-15).
On Oct. 8, CSJ hosts a pair of games. They face Paul Smith's College for the first time this season at 12:00 p.m., and Great Bay CC at 2:00 p.m. The Fighting Saints defeated GBCC 3-1 (18-25, 25-22, 25-15, 25-15) on Sunday, Oct. 1.
CSJ hosted SUNY Delhi on Wednesday, Oct. 4. Earlier in the season, on Sept. 13, the Broncos handed the Saints a 3-0 loss (25-27, 18-25, 18-25). In Wednesday's home contest, the score was reversed and the Saints took the victory (27-25, 25-22, 25-11).
The Fighting Saints played two games against Lyndon State on Thursday, Oct. 5. In the initial win, CSJ took the sets 25-17, 25-9, 25-8. Kali Drum helped close out the first set by serving six straight points. Timell Montgomery had a huge game for the Saints, recording 16 kills. Agnew added nine kills and 12 digs, while Mixon recorded 19 assists.
In the latter of the two games, CSJ won the sets 25-13, 25-8, and 25-7. Montgomery and Agnew were again dominant at the net, recording 15 and 11 kills respectively. Mixon was credited with 21 assist, while Agnew added 12 digs. Ashley Vasas sealed the game by serving up seven consecutive points.
