Women's Basketball hosts SUNY Delhi in last home game of the season

The College of St. Joseph Women's Basketball team hosts the SUNY Delhi Broncos on Tuesday, Feb. 14 at 6 p.m. It is the last game of the regular season for the Lady Saints, and they will be celebrating Imani Stephenson as a part of senior night.

CSJ has lost their last three games and will be looking to earn a victory heading into the post-season.

The Lady Saints enter the match-up with an overall record of 11-11 and a Yankee Small College Conference record of 9-5. They have gone 4-6 in their last 10 games played, losing to a number of top USCAA teams during that span. CSJ currently ranks No. 12 in the USCAA Power rankings and fifteenth in the Week 9 Coaches Poll.

The Broncos go into Tuesday's match-up with an overall record of 11-15. They lost their last game against Alfred State College, but were on a four game winning streak leading up to that point. They have had an up-and-down season thus far but are capable of playing very well together as a team. Lack of consistency has been an issue for SUNY Delhi and that is something that CSJ hopes they can take advantage of.

The Lady Saints and the Broncos met for the first time back on Nov. 30. CSJ came out of the gates firing on all cylinders, eventually winning the game 76-68. They played uptempo team basketball and were able to take a decisive 24-8 lead after the first quarter. The Broncos fought back, making it a close game in the end, but the Lady Saints were able to build enough of a cushion early in the contest to help secure the victory.

CSJ will look for the same fast start against SUNY Delhi this Tuesday. Their aggressiveness on defense was the key to success for them in the first meeting and they will need to match that intensity in order to top the Broncos. The Lady Saints have had issues lately shooting the basketball. Their shooting average has been down and if they can correct that, they give themselves a better chance of coming out on top.
