College of St. Joseph Women's Basketball will be heading to Boston, Mass. on Thursday, Jan. 19 to take on the Fisher Falcons at 5 p.m. The Lady Saints enter their one and only matchup with the Falcons with a 7-5 overall record and a 5-3 Yankee Small College Conference record. They have lost their last two games and will be looking to get back to the win column on Thursday.
Fisher is an independent college that plays the majority of their games against schools affiliated with the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. The Falcons are 6-8 this season after playing a more challenging schedule than CSJ so far. Fisher recently played Vermont Tech and beat them 87-22. The Lady Saints played Vermont Tech back in early November and were able to win, but only by a final score of 66-63.
CSJ has been getting contributions from a number of players all season, but junior forward Alexius Brooks has stood out as of late. She currently leads the United States Collegiate Athletics Association in rebounds per game at 13.2 and has averaged double-figure scoring numbers in the last five games played. CSJ will need another solid performance from her to help push past the Falcons.
Fisher has been led by sophomore forward Aliyanah McIntosh throughout the season. She leads the team in both points and rebounds at 14.4 and 8.9 per game respectively. McIntosh has a complete game and can be very difficult to contain. It the Lady Saints are able to cut down on her touches and force other players to beat them, they give themselves a great chance to be successful.
