CSJ plays weekend games in Western N.Y.

College of St. Joseph's men's basketball team travels to Rochester, N.Y. over the weekend to face Bryant & Stratton (Greece) on Saturday, Feb. 2 at 12pm. They then will travel about two hours south to play Alfred State on Sunday, Feb. 3 at 1pm. The Fighting Saints will play to break a six-game 2019 losing streak.

Bryant & Stratton Greece is 2-16 on the year and on a four-game losing streak. Three of those losses were to teams that CSJ has also competed against this season.

Greece fell to Fisher College 79-66 on Jan. 27. Maleek Mason scored 18 points for the Bobcats, while Jevonny Brown and Torry Wright had 14 points apiece. On Jan. 25, they lost to Bryant & Stratton Albany 64-59. Wright led with 17 points, 12 rebounds and Dimitri Campbell scored 10 points. On Jan. 22, the Bobcats dropped a contest to Villa Maria College 96-65. Campbell led the way with 23 points, while Wright recorded 19 points, 8 rebounds.

The Fighting Saints played Fisher College in Boston on Nov. 28 and fell 110-90. Charles Isaac Jr. dropped 42 points to lead all scorers. They played Bryant & Stratton Albany on Nov. 10 and won 81-75. Brian Kennedy scored 30 points off the bench for CSJ. The Saints hosted Villa Maria College on Jan. 11 and fell 90-84, and traveled to Villa on Jan. 19 and lost 107-86.

Aldred State is 9-10 on the season. They have had one common opponent with the Fighting Saints. On Nov. 17, they played Bryant & Stratton (Buffalo) and fell 84-73. With three minutes remaining the game was tied, but the Bobcats ended the game on an 18-7 run to take down Alfred. Kevin Goode led the Alfred Pioneers with 25 points. Dante Jordan had 11 points, 10 rebounds and Owen Spencer came off the bench to record 8 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals.

CSJ traveled to play Bryant & Stratton (Buffalo) on Jan. 18 and fell 82-72. The Fighting Saints trailed by 10 points at halftime, and tied the Bobcats 45-45 in the second half.

The Fighting Saints (5-17) will have Monday off before they return to game action on Tuesday, Feb. 5, when they host Fisher College at 7pm.
